VILLA BELINZAGHI – CERNOBBIO (CO)
Villa Belinzaghi, surrounded by a park of about 8,000 square meters, characterized by an English garden full of conifers and magnolias, is classified by the code of cultural heritage and landscape as "Panoramic beauties" and is subject to landscape protection.
In Italy, cultural heritage is considered an invaluable heritage, which must be protected and preserved for future generations. To ensure this, the execution of works and jobs on such assets is subject to specific regulations and authorizations. One of the main players in this process is the Superintendency.
The intervention aims to proceed with the adaptation of the systems and the redesign of the spaces, internal and external, as well as the conservation and enhancement of the existing, to allow Villa Belinzaghi to be used as a hospitality facility linked to the adjacent Villa d'Este, respecting its current conformation.
This approach translates on the one hand into the maintenance of the significant elements of the building, on the other into the enhancement of the building also through the insertion of new architectural volumes.
In particular, the need to recover the spaces currently contained within the veranda has turned into the opportunity to provide a new volume to replace the current one in iron and glass, and to extend it to the first floor, recreating a volumetric symmetry typical of the original architecture. In the remaining portion, the construction of a small indoor swimming pool has been planned.
As regards the internal organization, a restaurant, a kitchen for room service, a bar and a SPA will be created, as well as lounge areas, 4 suites, storage and warehouses linked to the restaurant and finally an increase in surface area for the technical plant rooms and the hotel service rooms, as well as a portion of plant rooms serving the SPA above.
Other interventions necessary for the proper functioning of the villa in its new hospitality vocation are: the insertion of elevators, which ensure accessibility in all the rooms at the various altimetric levels and redesign of the existing staircase.
With proper management and protection, cultural heritage can continue to tell our story for many years to come.
